VICTOR "E"

The E was introduced just at the turn of the 20th century (NOTE AN EARLIER MODEL SHOWN ON THIS WEB SITE), initially as a "straight horn" or "front mounted" instrument, with the horn protruding straight out from one side of the cabinet. During the 1904-05 period, as the E transitioned into the II, the equipment was varied to allow the horn to sit over the top of the machine -- the so-called "back mounted" configuration -- which was more economical in terms of space.

The earthquake knocked practically everything to the ground -- people, buildings, talking machines off their shelves... but this one survived.

The "soundbox" or needlehead -- greatly contributes to the quality of the music the E puts forth. Victor's "Exhibition" soundbox is both sensitive and sturdy. We have completely taken it apart, replaced the rubber gaskets, tuned, balanced and adjusted to give it the power to entertain you brightly, boldly, brilliantly. The back-bracket has been restored to precisely replicate the original filigree decoration. To the left of where the back bracket fastens to the cabinet, you can see the holes that originally accommodated the "front mount" horn configuration.

Quaint oak cabinet with fluted pillars and deep molding. Note the ID plate featuring "Nipper" the famous Victor fox terrier.

The E is not a big machine, it's rather compact in size, but the DOUBLE SPRING motor packs plenty of punch!

Ladies and gentlemen, we present for your delectation the Victor "E." As always, we took the instrument down to its constituent parts and meticulously cleaned each one. Our machines are checked, tested and guaranteed to work properly. We put our nearly 40 years of experience into each one.
