Edison Fireside Phonograph
The "Cygnet" horn was an Edison innovation that got the horn up, over the top of the machine. The rule in acoustic phonographs is "bigger horn, bigger sound," so this is a great advantage for those who really want to listen to and enjoy their records. The original Edison Cygnet (swan's neck) horn has been professionally repainted and given precise gilt decoration.
Expertly refinished oak cabinet -- note, we have an eye for color that the home handyman lacks -- our cabinet is the correct hue (ironically, Edison called this finish "Antique Oak"), not bleached out and blotchy like the buggered up junk on eBay.
Furthermore, we meticulously restored the mechanical works, including the fancy gold and blue decoration. Our level of work requires us to take the machine down to its tiniest pieces and address each one individually. What do you get from other dealers? A couple squirts of WD-40 and a quick coating of shoe polish!
What insanity would compel us to put this much time and sweat into an Edison Phonograph? We are dedicated to the task of returning these ancient instruments to their original condition. The Fireside Model A is capable of playing BOTH the early-style 2-minute and the later-style 4-minute cylinder records (see reproducer choices below). We have hundreds of cylinder records for sale to the purchaser of this machine if needed.
